Arthur Stuart Bradley, 87, of Kewanee, Il. died at 10:40 A.M. Friday, October 30, 2015, at Kewanee Care Home.
He was born on February 2, 1928, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of George S. and Elsie Anderson Bradley.
He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1946. On September 19, 1947, he married Carlena Carsten ion Rock Island, Il. She preceded him in death on April 10, 2004.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, William Bradley, and three sisters, Eleanor Bryson, Jeanette Quale and Donna Sweet. He is survived by four children: Steven (Darlene) Bradley of Chassahowitzka FL, Susan (Charles) Blake of Neponset IL, Michael (Jane) Bradley of East Moline IL, and Allan (Pamela) Bradley of St. Petersburg FL, as well as 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Arthur worked on the Bradley farm in Galva IL, during high school and continued to raise his family there until 1959. The family then moved to Neponset IL, where Arthur worked for Martin Engineering until 1972. During this time he served on the Neponset School Board and Library Board and operated the Corner Store. He was a member of the Kewanee Christian Science Church from 1950-1972.
Arthur and Carlena moved to Bradenton, FL, in 1972, where he worked in real estate. He was a member of the Bradenton Christian Science Church from 1972-2004.
He then moved to Chassahowitzka, FL, and was a member of the Brooksville Christian Science Society. In 2013 Arthur moved back north to Kewanee IL. He was a lifelong member of the First Church of Christian Science of Boston, MA, and retired as a Christian Science Practitioner after 40 years in 2013.
Private family graveside services were held Thursday, November 5, 2015, in Evergreen Memory Gardens, rural Kewanee.
There was no visitation. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to your local Humane Society or animal shelter.
