Charles Edward Whipple, son of the late Merton Elmer and Dorothy M. (Cook) Whipple, was born April 22, 1933, at Pond Creek, Oklahoma, and passed away March 22, 2005, in Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 71 years and 11 months. Charles was cremated at his request.

Charles graduated from Waynoka High School. He served in Korea while he was in the United States Army. He then worked as a stuntman in Hollywood for several of the western series on television, including Rawhide, Bonanza and as a double for Doc Adams in Gunsmoke. He then worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and ran a motel in Liberal, Kansas for a time. He was known as a “Jack-of-all-trades”.

Charles attended the Waynoka Church of God. He was a member of the American Legion, wrote poetry, painted and loved music.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Chuck; two brothers, Lee and George.

Charles is survived by one son, Steve Whipple of Canadian, Texas; one daughter, Toni Jolly and her husband, Tim, of Oklahoma City, Clayette Arendarczyk and her husband, Dennis, of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Jason Watson of Higgins, Texas, and Taylor and Sydney Arendarczyk, both of New Jersey; four great grandchildren, Cierra, Cora, Cara, and Jayden Watson, all of Higgins, Texas; one brother, Jack Whipple and his wife, Ireba, of Vernon, Texas; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial services will be Friday, March 25, 2005, at the Waynoka Church of God with Pastor John Brint officiating. The services are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Cancer Research.
