ARE CHEROKEE FREEDMEN
Children of John Graham Will Receive Government Payments and Land
The children of John Graham, the well known colored politician, are in a fair way to be enrolled as Cherokee freedmen and thereby receive the payments from the government as provided for by law.

Mrs Graham, who died in 1895, was the daughter of Tobe Martin, who died a few months ago at the age of 70 years. He was a Cherokee freedman and came to the Nation from Georgia with the Cherokee tribe many years ago.

According to the rulings made by the Dawes commission the heirs of Mr. Martin are entitled to enrollment as Cherokee freedmen and to the benefits-such as land and government payments-to be derived as such.

The Dawes commission meets at Vinita, Ind. Ter. May 6th to 25th, at which time the Graham children will probably be enrolled. Their interests are being represented by Judge W. R. Biddle.
