Ray Malcolm Taylor D.D.S passed away on August 24, 2006. He was born on July 27, 1917 in Sullivan County, Indiana to Floyd and Grace Taylor. He graduated from Indiana State and Loyola Universities with his undergraduate and graduate degrees and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Northwestern University in 1943. He married his wife, Hazel Sharp on September 14, 1940. Ray served proudly as a Major in the Medical Department of the Third and Ninth Air Forces during World War II while being stationed at Will Rogers Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. He practiced dental surgery in Oklahoma City from 1946 to 1990. He was a member of the Oklahoma Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Medical Association, and American Association for the Advancement of Science, National Geographic Society, American Heart Association, Fellow in the Royal Society of Health, Lifetime Member of the American Legion (Post 0034), Guthrie Consistory and India Shrine, and St. John's Episcopal Church. He will be remembered as a very caring and compassionate dentist to his many patients. He was a true lover of landscaping, cars, and dogs. Above all, he was utterly devoted to his family and to his faith. He is predeceased by his parents and his beloved eldest child, Pamela Rae. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hazel; his brother, Robert Taylor and wife, Helen; his sons, Dr. Malcolm Taylor and his wife, Peggy, and Dr. John Taylor and his wife, Laurie; and his daughter, Kathy Maurer and her husband, Craig. In addition, he is survived by eight grandchildren, Stephanie Heideman, Scott Maurer, Meredith Abbett, Kristin Byrd, Whitney Portcr, Jennifer Yaksic, Nathaniel Taylor, and Jonathan Taylor; and for great-grandchildren, Levi and Rylee Rae Abbett and Taylor and Luke Yaksic. Family will greet visitors from 7pm - 9pm Friday at Hahn-Cook Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 4:00 pm at St. John's Episcopal Church, 5201 N. Brookline, OKC with interment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
