Evelyn Louise Smith, devoted wife and homemaker, age 76, died Wednesday night (November 11, 2015) at Hospice House Satilla following an extended illness.

She was a native of Alma, but had lived the past 56 years in Dixie Union. She was the daughter of the late Ralph Spivey and Agnes Hutson Spivey. She was also preceded in death by siblings Gene Spivey, William Spivey, and Ethel Haas.

She was a member of Haywood Baptist Church. She was a talented seamstress and loved making clothes for her children.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, James Edward Smith of Waycross, her children, Neal Smith (wife Brenda), Sheryl Smith Andrews both of Waycross, and Gale Young (husband Andy) of Glenwood; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Lois Sellers (husband Roger) of Hazlehurst; a brother, Dannie Spivey (wife Sylvia) of Waycross, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers the family request that Memorial donations may be made to Hospice House Satilla, c/o Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31501.

Funeral service was hekd at 2:00 PM Saturday (November 14, 2015) at 2:00 PM at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Jordan Cemetery of Dixie Union. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday at Music Funeral Home.

Music Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
