Ona Mae Foland, 76, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at the Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 14 at 10:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus, with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 9:45 AM at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Nebraska Organ Recovery System (NORS), or those of the family choice.

Ona Mae Foland was born March 9, 1939, in Cushing, Nebraska, (Howard County) to Louis and Annabelle (Rieken) Hansen. She attended Timber Creek Grade School and graduated from Belgrade High School in 1956. After graduation, Ona taught country school at Red Wing School west of Timber Creek, then went to work for the ASCS office in Fullerton, Nebraska.

On August 23, 1958, Ona was united in marriage to Dean Foland at the Timber Creek Lutheran Church near Belgrade. They lived in Columbus and O’Neill, Nebraska, before returning to Columbus where they made their home. Ona returned to work at the Natural Resources District office in Columbus where she was employed until her death. She was a wonderful seamstress, enjoyed decorating her home, and flower gardening, spending time with her family, friends, lunches with the “Belgrade Girls”, and memories of fishing and days spent at their cabin at Fort Randall, South Dakota. Ona was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus.
