Shirley June Booth passed away at home with her family on November 9, 2015.

Shirley was born to Helen and Clifford Sanford in Akron, Ohio. She had a wonderful childhood. There are stories of church camp, Furnace Street Mission, selling cherries on Route 224, and laughter. Shirley loved to travel. She has been on cruises, gone to Canada, visited Hawaii, and Kenya, Africa in 2005. Her face lit up every time the stories were told. Shirley loved the Tallmadge Alumni Banquet. Her classmates would laugh and tell stories on each other.

Shirley taught her children some important life skills. They all drove at a young age and know the value of ketchup and the correct way to jump a train. She retired from Norton Schools. Shirley especially enjoyed receiving packages in the mail. She enjoyed sewing and made cheerleading skirts and prom dresses for Paula. She loved her roller coasters, DWTS, the Bachelor, and bad romance novels. She loved chocolate - milk only - no dark! Shirley also loved all her dogs. Shirley deeply loved her family and friends. She collected hugs from friends in Ohio and North Carolina.

Shirley was preceded to Heaven by husband, Robert "Bob"; sister, Dehlia Sanford; brother, Andrew "Andy" Sanford; and grandchildren, Brian and Nathan Booth.

Shirley will be forever loved and missed by her children: Bob (Julie) Booth, Tim (Lynn) Booth, Paula (Royce) Yoho, Mark (Megan) Booth; sister, Juanita (Harold) Mullins; grandchildren, Shawn Booth, Jordan (Jessica) Booth, Jeannette (Kenneth) Rought, Meghan (Anthony) McFarland, Teresa (Ernie) Wilson, Sara (Tyler) Hatter, Joe (Samantha) Booth, Brenna Booth, Noah Booth, Jason Booth, Corbett (Karen) Booth, Michael (Wanda) Booth, Brandon Yoho, Ashley Yoho, Evan Dunaway, Lyndsay (Josh) Dimengo, Jeremy (Dawn) Dunaway; sixteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 11 to 12, followed by a 12 p.m. funeral service, with Pastor Brenda Young officiating at Cornerstone Free Methodist Church, 578 Killian Rd., Akron, OH 44319. Shirley survived colon cancer, breast cancer, and a stroke. She had an iron will and a zest for life.
