Pansy Josephine Buckman passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the New Horizon's Care Center in Lovell. She was born to John Charles Buckman and Josephine Rita Spotted Bird on August 22, 1944 in Hays, Montana. She joined 8 brothers and sisters; Rose, Richard, Pat, Erma, Sadie, Tom, Josh, and Blanche and 6 step-brothers and sisters; Al, Bill, Charles, Cecilia, Mae, and John.
Pansy's father passed away when she was 5 years of age in 1949. She lived for a year in Hays and then the family moved to Great Falls and then on to Augusta, Winnet, Helena, Havre, Harlem, and Chinook. Pansy would just get started in school and they would move and at age 16 in Chinook she refused to go to school.
Pansy married Harvey Eustis and had 2 daughters, Louise in 1965 and Peggy in 1966. Louise passed away June 1, 1977 from a head injury caused by a horse. Peggy passed away in 2008 from multiple sclerosis.
Later Pansy took care of her mother who suffered from diabetes until she passed away on February 27, 1973 and then she cared for her step-father until he passed away.
Pansy moved to Frannie in 1994 to live with her brother Pat and his wife Ada. Pat was killed August 22, 1995, on her birthday, in a car wreck at the Crow Fair. Pansy was instrumental with a lot of help from Art Schatz in getting Pat a headstone due to his serving in the Korean War.
Pansy moved to Rose City West on June 18, 2000.
She enjoyed making greeting cards for the Senior Center and she loved the holidays, especially Christmas and Halloween. She enjoyed the ladies from the Red Hat group and enjoyed making earrings for them. Pansy loved to embroider, and if she made a mistake, she would rip it out. She also loved Ship Bo, hidden word puzzles, coloring velvet pictures, and putting together picture puzzles. She loved calendars with lighthouses on them, and lastly she loved John Wayne. She had a life-sized John Wayne figure, given to her by Shari Loegering, that she had at the foot of her bed in the nursing home. For those who knew her well, if she was displeased with you, you would get "the look".
Pansy is preceded in death by her parents, daughters, and all brothers and sisters except Tom and his wife Cheryl Buckman of Nevada.
She is also survived by her adopted family: Wayne and Karen Spragg; Ken, Shana, J.C., and Shallan Bartle; and Sam, Ann, and Cindy Spragg.
Pansy leaves behind special friends Christy and Tim DeFuentes and family, Dorothy Spragg, Clarence and Emma Davis, Shari Loegering, Linda Martin, Steve Ramsey, Janet Nazer, Karin O'Donnell, and Lee and Sunny Bailey of Texas, and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lovell Bible Church.
