Leland S. Thomas, age 89, passed away November 9, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born in Rapid City, South Dakota November 10, 1925 to Paul John Thomas and Elizabeth Kramer. He married Barbara Alice Adams on August 23, 1946 for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Having served in the Air Force at the end of WWII he graduated from Brigham Young University and later became president of a casualty insurance company in Los Angeles as well as founding a re-insurance company.

He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, He enjoyed many callings in the church, including Bishop, gospel doctrine teacher, stake high council member. He, along with his wife Barbara, served an LDS Mission to the England London Mission 1993-1994 where he was a counselor in the mission presidency. He began to gather the information on his mission he later used to write his book, "The Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ."

He was well respected by all those with whom he associated and was well known for his business and financial expertise. He garnered the love and respect of his employees and peers because of his compassion, generosity and genuine love of his fellowman.

His family was his whole world; he being the epitome of the word 'Patriarch'. A devout follower of the scriptures and lived his life accordingly. He led by the examples of love, long-suffering and patience. His final words to his family were "keep the commandments and take care of one another."

He survived by his wife, Barbara Alice Adams, two daughters, Charleen (Kahn) and Kathryn, six grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

There will be a viewing at the Leavitts Mortuary, 836 - 36th St., Ogden, UT on Thursday, November 12, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 13, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at the Country Hills LDS Chapel, l401 Country Hills Dr., Ogden. Family will greet friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment Orem City Cemetery.
