HENRY BAUGHER, NURSERYMAN, DIED ON FRIDAY
Henry G. Baugher, 86, for many years a prominent upper Adams County fruit grower and farmer, died Friday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock at his home at Aspers. He was taken ill on Thursday. Mr. Baugher was born in Menallen Township, a son of the late Gideon and Amanda (Baughman) Baugher and lived in that township all his life. He attended county school and later became associated with his father in the tannery business which he later took over and operated himself until 1915. In 1905 he became interested in the fruit growing and nursery business and established the Adams County Nursery in the year. He continued an active interest in that business until his final illness. He was also active in general farming and dairying. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church at Aspers where he had held membership since. His wife, the former Lillie A. Weaner, died in May 1945.
Surviving are three children: George L. Baugher, at home; Mrs Isaac Ripley, Aspers, and Mrs. R. N. Wright, Oakland, Calf. There are six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ira Bream, Aspers, also survives.
Funeral services from Christ Lutheran Church at Aspers Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with his pastor, the Rev. O. D. Coble, officiating. Interment in the Bendersville Cemetery. Friends may call at the late home Monday evening after 7 o'clock. Mr Baugher's remains will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 12 o'clock noon until the hour of the services.
