Malinda Adeline Copeland McClain, daughter of Joseph and Sarah Olvis Copeland, was born October 8, 1872, and passed away April 11, 1958, at the age of 85 years, 6 months, and 3 days. She was a lifelong resident of Platte County, Missouri.

Since the death of her husband in 1930, she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Spence McMillian, until she entered the Edwards Rest Home, of Dearborn, in 1955.

On April 10, 1889, she united in marriage to George Denver McClain. To this union were born eight children, two having died in infancy. Those left to mourn her loss are four daughters, Lora Parlee Keith of East Leavenworth; Mo Mary Belle Hale of Eugene, Oregon; Charity Adeline McMillian of Dearborn, MO; and Birdie Elizabeth Jones of Kansas City, MO. Two sons, George Franklin McClain of Dearborn, MO; and John Denver McClain of Camden Point, MO. Also included 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Charity Webb of Holton, Kansas; and Mrs. Myrtle Walder of Mayetta, Kansas. One brother, Mr. Ezekel Copeland of St. Joseph, MO. And a host of relatives and friends.

She was a member of the Christian Church, of Camden Point, MO.

Services were held at the Vaughn-Aufranc Funeral Home at 714 Maple Leaf St, Dearborn, MO 64439 on Sunday, April 13, 1958, with the Rev. Perlew officiating.

Mrs. Ruth Duncan sang two beautiful songs, "Meet Me There" and "Take My Hand, Precious Lord."

The pallbearers were her grandsons:

George William McMillian
Walter Thompson Jr.
John Robert McClain
George Thomas Thompson
Charles McClain
Elmer Atkins Jr.

She was laid to rest in the Camden Point Cemetery.

Softly the stars are gleaming upon a quiet grave.
There sleepeth without dreaming.
One we loved but couldn't save.
Heaven retains our treasure Earth,
the lonely casket keeps.
And the sunbeams love to linger
Where our loved one sleeps.
