Albert was the son of Abraham (Abe) Welker and Mary Agnes Billington. According to the 1900 census, Abraham was born in September of 1854 in Ohio. He was last known to be in Texas, Comanche County, Oklahoma in 1910, working as a boat man on a public ferry. He was divorced. Albert was enumerated with his family in Montague County, Texas in 1900 and 1910. On August 19, 1913, Albert married Anna Elizabeth Brice in Golden, Jefferson County, Colorado. In June of 1917 when he completed his WWI Draft card, he was living in Denver and working as a machinist for Hayes, Hader, Holt Manufacturing Company. His son John Albert “Jack” was born there in 1918. They were in Denver for the 1920 census, and Albert was working as a laborer in the stock yards. By 1926, Albert and family were in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a clerk and Anna was working as a cashier in Shaw Jewelry Company. Fort Worth would continue to be their home. In 1930, Albert was the foreman in the freezer department of a meat packing company, probably Armour. When son Jack filled out his WWII Reg card, he was also working for Armour in Fort Worth. After his wife Anna died in 1948 and sometime before 1954, Albert married Eula Florence Schoppaul who had been previously married to Howard Grady McNeill.
