Ruth Jean Rupert, 66, of Rome City and formerly of Topeka died Monday, November 9, 2015, at 6 p.m. in her residence.

She was a lifetime area resident, and a graduate of East Noble High School.

Mrs. Rupert was a foster parent, care giver, and trainer. She and her husband raised over 150 foster children.

She was a member of the Brimfield United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Foster Care Association.

She was born February 27, 1949, in Kendallville to Emanuel “Buck” and Wanetta (Brown) Cook.

On March 4, 1972, in Kendallville she married Paul Rupert. He survives in Rome City.

Also surviving are five daughters, Shawn (David) Ritchie of Ellijay, Georgia, Laura (Rick) Freeman of Macy, Pauletta Rupert of St. Mary, Tennessee, Rebecca (Mike) Miller of Howe, and Melanie (Brian) McKean of Garrett; four sons, Daniel (Amber) Rupert of Howe, Robert Rupert of Ligonier, Sean (Kim) Rupert of Topeka, and Michael (Ashley) Rupert of Cleveland, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Ann Rupert of Dahlonega, Georgia; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; five sisters, Edith (Jim Walters) Sprandel of Kendallville, Inez (Charles) Mynhier of Wawaka, Carolyn DePew of Rome City, Geraldine Witham of Rome City, and Sandra (Cliff Conley) Kelley of Union, Michigan; a brother, Ernest (Janet) Cook of Wawaka; and a brother-in-law, Timothy Oesch of Topeka.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Rupert; and two sisters, Patsy Adams and Beverly Oesch.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 13, 2015, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Pastor Christopher White of the Brimfield United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.
