MANCHESTER, N.H. - Jean Gove (Abbott) Hines, known as "Mawsie" to family and friends, died Sept. 25, 2012, in Manchester, N.H., at the age of 91.

She was born in Boston, Mass., and attended schools in Belmont and Boston. After three years at Colby-Sawyer College, she furthered her education to become a medical technologist.

She married Charles R. Abbott in 1943. She was secretary for the family-owned business "George H. Abbott and Son Electrical Contractors" for 27 years in Springfield, Vt. He died in 1970. She married Kenneth E. "Olson" Hines in 1972, and he died in 1987. In the following years she was active in the Springfield Area Hospice, volunteering, teaching volunteers, and as a member of the board of directors.

Survivors include four children, Ann Jefferies of Harare, Zimbabwe, Beth Houghton of Vernon, Conn., Rick Abbott of Sterling, Alaska, and Jean Welch of Alton, N.H.; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Per her request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA & Hospice of VT & NH, 366 River St., Springfield, VT 05156.
