LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Virginia Benge Chesnut, 84, North Mill Street, London, Ky., passed away Monday, March 22, 2010, at Laurel Heights Home For The Elderly.

Born Jan. 1, 1926, in Clay County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Leona Walden Benge. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church in London.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Keith Chesnut; and four siblings, Thelma Pearl Bruner, Lorene Williams, Loren Benge and Billy Benge.

Mrs. Chesnut is survived by four sons and their wives, Melvin and Kelly Chesnut of London, Ky., Mike and Jess Chesnut of Glasgow, Ky., David and Diane Chesnut of Cadiz, Ky., and Mark and Michelle Chesnut of Franklin, Tenn.; two sisters, Viola Benge Brewer and Ann Berry, both of London, Ky.; two brothers, Charlie Benge and Harold Benge, both of London, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Dr. Dathan Chesnut of Louisville, Ky., Lisa Raisor of Corona Del Mar, Calif., Lucas Chesnut and Logan Chesnut, both of Cadiz, Ky., Eli Chesnut, Kalin Chesnut and Keely Chesnut, all of Franklin, Tenn.; and two great-grandchildren, Jill Chesnut of Louisville, Ky., and Brooklyn Chesnut of Cadiz, Ky.

Visitation was from 3 p.m. Thursday, March 25, until the 7:30 p.m. funeral hour at London Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Terry Lester officiated during the funeral service. Burial followed in Benge Cemetery in London.

Pallbearers were Dr. Dathan Chesnut, Lucas Chesnut, Logan Chesnut, Eli Chesnut, Stacy Benge, Jim Drake and Layne Gaynor.
