John "Jack" Carmain, owner-manager of the "28 Club" in Dennis Port for 16 years, died Jan. 4 in Cape Cod Hospital. He came to the Cape 20 years ago from Waverly, Kan. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Harwich American Legion Post, and Holy Trinity Church, Harwich. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Alice Carmain; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Grant and Mrs. Margaret Harttung, all of Dennis Port, a brother, William F. Carmain of Dorchester, three nieces and a nephew. Burial was in Swan Lake Cemetery, Dennis Port. (The Register, Thursday, January 11, 1973; Page: 26)
