Services were held at Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Chapel in South Yarmouth for Alton E. Chase, 89, of 121 Division St. He died in Pondville Hospital, Norfolk, after a long illness. A native of Dennis Port, he was the son of the late James E. and Mary D. (Howes) Chase and had lived here all his life. He had been head gardener for more than fifty years at the Belmont Hotel, West Harwich, retiring in 1959. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah K. (Wixon) Chase of Dennis Port, and two nieces, Mrs. David O. Eldridge of Chatham and Mrs. Russell Theus of Leesburg, Fla. The Rev. John D. Erb officiated at the services and burial was in Swan Lake Cemetery.
