Permelia Dollar (154743134)
Permelia H. Camp Dollar was born to John Jackson Camp and his first wife, Arena (Irene) Donelly Camp. In the 1860 federal census Jackson Camp and his 7 children lived in household 822 at Louina, Randolph County, Alabama. Her future husband and his family lived nearby in household 894. She is not listed in the 1870 census with her father who lived in Louina, household 377. Her husband-to-be Bryant Cornelius Dollar is listed in the 1870 federal census with his family who lived nearby in household 303.

The exact date of their marriage has not been located, but according to the 1900 census the couple had been married for 30 years - possibly they had married before the census date of July 17th 1870 and the Dollar family failed to include Permelia in those living in their household. Wherever lies the truth, it is known that the couple had moved to Troup County, Georgia by the time their first child, Francis Virgil Dollar, was born in September 1871. Permelia, alias Melia, lived the remainder of her life in this county and is buried in an unmarked grave at Tatum Cemetery.

Inscription

Permelia was living in 1920 with B.C. Dollar. She died after the recording of the census in 1920. Her grave is marked with a slab but there are no date or name inscriptions. When the cemetery was surveyed church members participated in identification of graves per historian at Troup County Archives. The cemetery was surveyed in 1978 by Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Estes and the Shirey sisters with help from other church members. The church was formerly Tatum Chapel. Her grave is a cement slap next to her husband and these two graves are next to Estes graves in row 3 per the survey.
