ATHENS — Funeral services for Jewel "Jerry" Meredith, 84, of Athens, have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, at the Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Fondren officiating. Private burial will follow in Meredith Campground Cemetery.
Mrs. Meredith left this life to be with her blessed Savior on Monday, Aug. 21, 2006. She was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Athens to the late A.L. and Hester Stockard Colvin. She had been an Athens resident for 56 years. She was employed as an insurance processor for the Henderson County Memorial Hospital and the East Texas medical Center for 19 years before her retirement in 1988. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ike Meredith, in 1987.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John and Tamara Meredith of Lafayette, Colo.; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Rick Simmons of Bullard; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, John H. Colvin of Orlando, Fla.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
