Howard W. Bowers, age 77, of Herbster, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at his residence. Howard was born to Ira and Eunice Bowers in Balmorhea, Texas, on Jan. 30, 1932, the ninth of nine children.
Howard was a woodworker who made beautiful pieces of work. My parents own many of his pieces. He loved his roses and his pet chickens. The attached picture was taken when my children and I went to visit Howard in his workshop. He would talk to the chickens and they would talk back to him.
