Ivan H. "Bruzz" Smart, 64, a lifelong resident of Rocksprings, TX, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2005, in a Kerrville hospital. He was born Nov. 25, 1940, in San Angelo, TX, to Ivan B. Smart and Kathryn Ann (Hough) Smart. On July 12, 1958, he married Catherine Guthrie in Rocksprings.
Bruzz was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. His first priority always was his Lord and family. His children and grandchildren were blessed to always have Granddad close by to play with and to love. He was a blessing to those who knew him.
Bruzz was a member of Calvary Temple Church in Kerrville. He was a graduate of Abilene Christian University, Abilene, TX, in 1963, and was a coach at Tivy High School from 1963-1965.
Bruzz was an insurance adjuster from 1966-1969, and was owner of Rocksprings Insurance Agency in Rocksprings for the following years. He was Edwards County Commissioner for many years, was on the Board of Directors of the Peoples State Bank in Rocksprings for 17 years, the pastor of the Rocksprings Community Church for 15 years and was on the Rocksprings ISD School Board for many years.
Bruzz had a love for the Lord, his family and friends and the game of golf.
A visitation will be Thursday, April 14, 2005, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels.
Services will be Friday, April 15, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Temple Church in Kerrville, TX, officiated by Pastor Del Way and Pastor Ray Miller. Graveside services will follow at 4 p.m. at Rocksprings Cemetery, Rocksprings, TX.
Those who desire, may make memorials to Medina Children's Home, Medina, TX, or to the Casa Hogar Children's Orphanage, Oaxacan, Mexico, in care of Calvary Temple Women's Ministry, Wells Fargo Bank.
