Devoted husband and father, Robert Giordano 64, passed away Sept. 22, 2015, surrounded by his loving wife Linda and twin sons Dane and Drew. He is survived by his mother Patricia Giordano, six siblings, nieces and nephews.

His greatest joy was his family. With his loving nature, gentle spirit and sense of humor, he is remembered by family and friends as selfless, wise, athletic, generous, humble and hard-working. He was an especially giving person of exceptional character. His benevolent, unselfish and nurturing aura inspired and empowered his students, co-workers, fellow artists and the community.

From Maplewood, N.J., a graduate of Kean University, Mr. Giordano was a teacher of both Special Education in Irvington N.J. and middle school in Medford, NJ. In St. Petersburg, Fl., he was the Deputy Director of the Morean Arts Center.

In Kansas City, Mo., he was the Youth Education Director of the Belger Art Center, and the founder of the Youth and Community Education Program of Red Star Studios.

With his innovative ideas, he implemented and supervised contemporary art community programs. He was the Creator and Director of both "Art on Ice", the outreach program for all home games of the NHL Tampa Bay Lightning, and the "Bats, Balls and Brushes" Fan Experience at Tropicana Field with the Tampa Bay Rays.

As a professional clay artist, renowned for his figurative sculpture, his artwork is exhibited and sold locally at Florida Craft Art, Art Festival Beth-El, the Morean Arts Center, the Duncan McClellan Gallery and numerous other local and national venues. His work has garnered both awards and acclaim. He regularly donated sculptures to fund-raising charities. He was a studio artist at the Morean Center for Clay. He is widely recognized for his sculpture style of hand-built, thought-provoking figures.

As an educator, artist and leader with creative drive, he impacted the future success of his students, from his days teaching special needs students at Grove Street School in Irvington, New Jersey, to instructing young artists as an Art Camp Director in both Kansas City and Saint Petersburg.
Mr. Giordano was instrumental in bringing the Dale Chihuly Collection to St. Petersburg.

A Celebration of Life will be held at his studio, the Morean Center for Clay, 420 22nd Street South, St. Petersburg at 6:00PM on November 10, 2015. Continuing his legacy in Art and Education, a Foundation has been established in his honor. Memorial gifts in his name can be contributed to: the Robert T. Giordano Fund for Visual Arts Education at the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay. www.cftampabay.org
