MARIE KREJCI
(1834 - 1912)

SISTER AND BROTHER DIE WITHIN WEEK
Mrs. Krejci to Be Laid to Rest One Week After Brother

Grief over the death of her brother, to whom she was much attached, probably hastened the death of Mrs. Mary Krejci, a pioneer resident of the county, whose demise occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. Wilda, 426 N. Eighth street early this morning.

Mrs. Krejci was 78 years of age but had enjoyed excellent health but the death of her brother, Joseph Janda who (sic) burial occurred last Sunday, was a shock.

Mrs. Krejci was born in Bohemia and came here with her husband in the early 50’s locating in Gibson where she resided until seven years ago. Mr. Krejci died in 1865 while on his way home from service in the Union army.

Mrs. Krejci is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Wilda, this city, Mrs. Emma Straka, Melnik and one son, Emil of the latter place.

The funeral will be held Sunday at the same hour as the funeral of her brother one week previous.

Notes From Melnik:

Mrs. Marie Krejci, a pioneer settler of this place, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jos. Wilda, at Manitowoc early Friday morning of diseases incident to old age. She was stricken with paralysis several years ago and since then has not been in the best of health. It is also thought that the grief over the death of her brother, Mr. Joseph Janda, whose demise occurred a week ago, probably hastened her death.

The deceased was born in Bohemia, August 24, 1834, and spent her childhood days there, and when about twenty one years of age immigrated to this country with her parents, locating on a farm in Melnik where she spent most all of her life. She disposed of her farm about 20 years ago and lived a retired life since. For the past several years she spent the summer months here with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Straka, and the winter months with her daughter, Mrs. Jos. Wilda, at Manitowoc.

Mr. Jacob Krejci died in 1865 while returning home from service in the Union Army.

The deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jos. Wilda of Manitowoc and Mrs. Frank Straka of this place and one son, Emil, also of this place.

The funeral was held last Sunday at the same hour as the funeral of her brother one week previous. Interment was in the Bohemian National Cemetery at Francis Creek.
