Fanwa was born Nov. 2, 1912, in Allerton, Wayne County, Iowa. She was one of twin daughters born to Harrison C. and Myrtle Kendall Foreman. She married Frank McIntosh on June 3, 1934, in Harvard, Iowa. Frank preceded her in death in 1965.

Fanwa worked at the Rock Island Arsenal during World War II until the health of her children demanded her time at home. In about 1946, she was hired as assistant manager of the Silvis McKinley Elementary School lunch program. Two years later she became the manager of the program and continued to work as manager for 28 years, the last several years at George O. Barr Elementary School. She retired in 1974. Fanwa loved to travel, knit, crochet, make afghans and participate in church activities.

While her family was her No. 1 reason for living, Fanwa was an active member of First Baptist Church, Silvis, for many years. She taught Bible school, cooked for camps and assisted in many other activities. She was a proud woman of God and lived her life accordingly.

She is survived by a brother, Richard Foreman, Schaller, Iowa; half-brother, Jack Foreman, Oklahoma City, Okla.; sons, Ardy McIntosh, Woodstock, Ga., and Herb McIntosh, Ypsilanti, Mich.; stepson, J. D. McIntosh, San Diego, Calif.; stepdaughter, Velma Smallwood, Carbon Cliff.
