Elsie was my great-grandmother, the mother of Hartman Bennett Canon as well as my paternal grandmother, Doris. She was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa and married Dowell Arnold Canon on January 28, 1903 in Castle Rock, Colorado. She was residing in Buena Vista, Colorado at the time of her death.
I never knew that my great-grandmother had been cremated or that Grandma had kept her ashes in the garage. Elsie's ashes were placed in the casket of her daughter and a marker was placed at her daughter's feet.
