He was born May 22, 1928, in Spearville, to Theodore and Mildred Hemphill Kreger. He attended Jetmore High School.
A former resident of Garden City and Dodge City, Mr. Kreger was manager of Beaver Express Freight Co. in Garden City, before retiring in 1992. He then worked for The Garden City Telegram in the express service. He was a member of Community Christian Church and Frederick Phillips American Legion Post No. 121, both at Council Grove, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed being with people, loved life and had a passion for working on lawn mowers.
On Oct. 23, 1950, he married Leanna D. Voth in Clayton, N.M. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Debi Schwerdtfeger of Council Grove, and Rena Hoyt of Dorrance; a son, Ron Kreger of Garden City; a brother, Bill Kreger of Hanston; a sister, Mary "Sis" Boyce of Greensburg; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Theodore Kreger Jr.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Community Christian Church, Council Grove. Burial will follow at Sunny Slope Memorial Garden Cemetery, Council Grove.
Memorials are suggested to Community Christian Church, in care of the chapel, 137 N. Union, Council Grove, KS 66846.
