Funeral services for Jay J. Arant, 77, whose life was closely linked with the
progress of the Klamath Basin, will be held from the Conger Morris Chapel in
Medford, June 3. The Rev. Frederick Evans of the Medford First Christian Church
will officiate. Final rites and interment will be in Linkville Cemetery in the
family plot. He was a native of the Klamath Basin, born the son of Franklin and
Emma Arant who were among the first homesteaders in PocMox, Springs, now the
Pine Grove Area. He served in the Cavalry, Troop B., Oregon National Guard,
during the Modoc Indian War, and lived in the Ford Klamath area for many years.
He moved to Medford in 1954.

Survivors include two sons, Neil N. Arant of Pendleton and Donald Arant of Des
Moines; one daughter, Mrs. Pronsen of Albany, and nine grandchildren.
