Zeb was the third of eight children born to Dolphus Helan and Dorcus Elizabeth (Eidson) Moose. He married Lydia Ann Williams in 1920 and there were no children from this union. Lydia had two children from a previous marriage.

STATESVILLE, Jan. 27. - Zeb Ross Moose, 52, native of Iredell county, died Tuesday at his home in Toccoa, Ga., after a period of declining health. Mr. Moose's body will be brought home for burial, arriving here Thursday afternoon. It will be taken to the home of his mother, Mrs. D. H. Moose in Shiloh township. Funeral will be held from Mt. Hermon Lutheran church in the Bradfords Cross Roads community Friday morning at 11 o'clock and Interment will be in Mt. Hermon cemetery.
