PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Horace T. O'Shields, 90, of Panama City, Fla., died at his residence Saturday, April 23, 2005. He was the widower of Pearl Lancaster O'Shields.
Mr. O'Shields was born in Spartanburg, Jan. 6, 1915, a son of the late J.W. O'Shields and Helen Smith O'Shields. He was a retired banker and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in World War II. Mr. O'Shields was a former member of West Springs Baptist Church and a member of the First Baptist Church in Panama City, Fla.
Surviving are a son, John L. O'Shields of Buffalo; two sisters, Hazel O. Babb and husband, Bill of Buffalo and Matrel O. Stribling and husband Bob of Saluda, N.C.; and a special friend, Nadine Boles of Panama City, Fla..
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at West Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Henry Johnson, the Rev. Donald Tillman and the Rev. Everett Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Dan McInnis, Terry Kuykendall, Jimmy Sanders, Kent Babb, Jay Sanders and David Lancaster.
The following area asked to assemble at the church at 2:45 p.m. Friday to form the honorary escort: Al Smith, Marshall O'Shields, Dennis Lancaster, Ernest O'Shields, Charles Lancaster, Michael Yeargin and Greg LeMaster.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church social hall.
The family is at the home of his sister, Hazel O. Babb, 3639 Buffalo-West Springs Highway, Buffalo, S.C. 29323.
