Ray Boston
Ray H. Boston, 94, Carthage, died Sunday afternoon in Memorial Hospital in Carthage. He was born Jan. 3, 1891, near Carthage, a son of William H. and Nancy E. Bryant Boston. He married Viola Myers Feb. 25, 1920, in Memphis, Mo. He farmed in the Adrian and Powellton areas until his retirement in 1962, was a veteran of World War I, and a member of Phillip Hartzell American Legion Post and the First United Methodist Church of Carthage. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Bettie) Merritt of Carthage, Margie Boston of Rolla, Mo., Mrs. David (Shirley) Gnann of Nauvoo and Jean Morris of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two sons, Raymond of Carthage and Larry of Livermore, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers, six sisters and one great grandchild. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Leathem Funeral Home in Carthage. Burial will be in Moss Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call until the hour of services. A memorial has been established for the Hancock County Nursing Home activities fund.
