Robert Walker Moon, 81, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

He was born June 13, 1934, in Syracuse, son of William Walker and Mildred Moore Moon. On November 12, 1973, in Kansas City, he married Vernell “Nellie” Blumhorst, who preceded him in death on October 30, 2006.

Mr. Moon was a farmer and custom bailed hay. He worked for Tullis Hall Dairy delivering milk for 25 years, and later worked at the sale barn following retirement. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and a former member of the saddle club. He enjoyed horse shows, coon hunting, playing cards and Sunday dinners with his family. He raised mules and enjoyed pulling wagons with his teams.

Surviving are three daughters, Debbie Shaw (Ken), Linda Broaddus (Tom), and Tammy Amos (Charles), all of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Chad Broaddus, Brad Shaw, Dustin Broaddus and Zachary Amos; a sister, Viola Schlupp; and a brother, Lawrence Moon.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Moon.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 5, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Pastor Gina Johnson officiating.

Casket bearers will be Chad Broaddus, Dustin Broaddus, Zachary Amos, Glenn Powell, Tim Ehlers and Billy Ficken.

Burial will be in Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery in Arrow Rock.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, at Heckart Funeral Home.
