Mrs. James Stewart died Friday at her home near Gilman after an illness of about a year, due to a severe nervous disorder. For about six months during her illness Mrs. Stewart was a patient at the Methodist hospital at Des Moines.
Mrs. Stewart was born Rachel McNutt, November 19, 1858, in Rock Island County, Illinois, and became the wife of Mr. Stewart at Muscatine on November 14, 1894. The couple lived at Taylor Ridge, Illinois, for eight years following their marriage, and on May 11, 1902, moved to Gilman, where they have since resided.
Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Stewart, and survive with her husband. The children are Samuel David, Lois, and Jennie, and all are at home.
Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Methodist church.
The funeral will be held from the residence at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, interment following in Prairie View Cemetery.
