Robert J. Deitz, 63, of Liberty Hills, Hanover Township, died Monday in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born in Plymouth on May 16, 1943, son of Helen Makowski and the late Joseph J. Deitz. He was a graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1961.
During the Cuban Missile Crisis, he served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Wasp from 1961 to 1963. He was employed by Air Products, Hanover Township, for 31 years, until his retirement in 2005.
He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd Polish National Catholic Church, Plymouth. He was also a member of the Slocum Rod and Gun Club, Forkston, and the American Legion, Ashley Post 673.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years of marriage, the former Gloria Penkrot, at home; daughter, Linda and her husband, John Cannon, Concord, Calif.; son, Joseph, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; sister, Helen Falzoi, Laurel, Md.; brothers, Thomas and Charles, both of Plymouth; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 from George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in Church of the Good Shepherd Polish National Catholic, East Main Street, Plymouth, with the Rev. Dr. Czeslaw Kuliczkowski as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call Wednesday, 4 to 8 p.m.
