Funeral Services For John Donigan Held on Thursday
Friendship, June 1 Funeral services for John Donigan, eighty-two, for the past fifty years resident of Friendship, who passed away at his home on Stevens Avenue Tuesday morning, were held at the family residence Thursday afternoon at two oclock. Rev. Martz Snyder, pastor of the First Baptist church officiated. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers were Benjamin Rice, Harry L Blossom, Allen J. Muenen and Fred L. Utter.
Mr. Donigan was born in Boston, Mass. Dec 22 1851. He was the oldest of six children of Mr. and Mrs. James Donigan and came with his parents to Olean when a young lad. He resided there until in October, 1880 when he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Jane Bolsover and moved to Friendship where he had since made his home. After many years as farmer, he was employed at the Empire Sash and Door Company until his retirement from active labor. Mr. Donigan was an exempt member of the Friendship Fire Department, having been one of the first members of the Friendship Steamer Co.
Besides his widow, Mrs. Minnie Bolsover Donigan, of this place, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frank W. Burrows, of New York City and one grandson, John Augustus Burrows at Hamilton College.
