A.F. Pyeatt, 86, of Amarillo died Friday, Oct. 30, 2015.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Glen Walton and Dean Whaley officiating. Private burial will be in Citizen's Cemetery in Clarendon. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

A.F. was born March 6, 1929 in Clarendon. The family moved from Clarendon to Amarillo during his first year, and he lived there the rest of his life. He went to Margaret Wills, Horace Mann and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1947. He enjoyed many activities during his school years, including 4-H, and he particularly enjoyed playing football. He continued to support the Sandies throughout his life.

A.F. went to work for Texaco Refinery, where he completed 32 years of service before the plant closed. He met his wife, Jackie Wilson, there and they married on May 19, 1956, in Pampa. A.F. also built his own business as an electrician, selling and installing intercom and central vacuum cleaning systems in new home construction. After Texaco, he worked for the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission, placing at risk youth in jobs with some of the companies in Amarillo.

He was a member of Church of Christ, and served many years as a deacon at Central Church of Christ. At the time of his death, he was a member of Bell Avenue Church of Christ. He was a long-time member of South Amarillo Kiwanis Club. Due to health reasons, he took a recess from the club but continued to support the program, including driving or loaning his truck to plant American Flags in the front yards of residences of Amarillo on the various federal government remembrance days.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lela Waldron Pyeatt and a brother, David Pyeatt, who died on the Rohna Transport Ship in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie; his son, Mark and wife Diana of Plano; his daughter, Christy; and a brother, Ed Pyeatt, both of Amarillo.

The family suggests memorials be to High Plains Children's Home and Family Services, 11461 S. Western, Amarillo, TX 79118.
