Mr. Jack Norman Cardey, of Potosi, passed away at the venerable age of 93 years 1 month and 28 days on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster. Jack was born on August 30, 1922, in Potosi.

Jack was married to Helen Louise Weller of Blue Rapids, Kansas, on October 6, 1945. They had three daughters: Cheryl, Leslie, and Sue Ann.

Jack served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in Hawaii and played professional baseball for 15 years.

Mr. Cardey is survived by: his loving wife, Helen Cardey, Lancaster; two daughters: Cheryl (John) Abrams, Ames, IA; Leslie (Jack) Louthain, Sturgeon Bay; 7 grandsons; 14 great-grandchildren; his brothers: Keith Cardey, Napa, CA; Dennis (Lucette) Cardey, Apple Valley, MN; other relatives and many friends.

Jack was preceded in death by: his parents, a daughter, Sue Ann Cardey; a sister, Shirley Patzner; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Cardey.

Memorial Services with military honors will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Davies Memorial United Church of Christ in Potosi with Pastor Gordon Cunningham officiating. Family and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Private family burial will be in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi Township.

In lieu of plants and flowers, donations may be made in Jack's memory to the Davies Memorial United Church of Christ in Potosi or the Potosi Rescue Squad.
