Betty Rowe Horner, 89, of Montross, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015 at her home. She was an active member of Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church and a retired dental hygienist. She was very active in civic organizations, serving as past Regent of Chantilly Chapter of Virginia Daughters of American Revolution, member of James Monroe Chapter – Daughters of 1812, Colonial Dames of 17th Century, Northern Neck of Virginia Historical Society, past treasurer of Daughters of American Revolution District II Regent Club. She served twelve years on the Westmoreland County Planning Commission and seven years on the Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors. Mrs. Horner is survived by a son, Leland Griffith, Jr. (Anita) of Friendswood, TX; grandchildren, Kimberly Griffith, John Griffith and Devon Miller and great granddaughter, Margaret Catherine Miller. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gordon Horner, Wiley Morris and Leland Griffith; daughter, Kathleen Pylant, and grandson, Colin Miller. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2015 at Carmel United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Welch Funeral Home, Montross Chapel.
