She worked as a civilian employee for the Navy at Port Hueneme, California for several years, then transferred to the Nevada National Guard in Carson City where she worked until her retirement. After retirement, June worked for the Nevada State Legislature when in session. Over the years, she acquired many friends and developed lasting relationships. She loved her friends, dancing and the Hawaiian Islands.
June is survived by her daughter and fiancé, Sandra Cessna and Michael Nation, San Dimas, California; sister, Marian Howard, Winnemucca; brother and sister- in-law, Thomas and Mary Fitzpatrick; four grandchildren, Jaime Drake of Santa Maria, California; Duane (Joleen) Cessna of Walker, California; Tammi (Steve) Duran of Rowland Heights, California; Matthew (Suzy) Cessna of Covina, California; three great grandchildren, Joseph and Cassandra Duran and Shayleen Cessna; many nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church on June 29, 2002 at 10 AM. Cremation was handled by Oakdale Mortuary, Glendora California. Ashes will be scattered at a later date off the island of Oahu. Donations in June’s memory may be made to the ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 150, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301.
