Raymond was married to his wife Emma for 62 years. He was born in Terre Haute, Ind., and was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was employed as a carpenter for many years and built his own home. After retirement, he devoted his time to his family, home and garden.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Deborah; three grandchildren, Dawn, Dominic and Monique, also five great-grandchildren, and three sisters. There are many nieces and nephews. He was the father of Philip Alvey, who died in 1970. Visitation will be on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main St., West Harwich. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, at 10 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 246 Main St., West Harwich. Burial to follow at Swan Lake Annex Cemetery, Depot Road, in Dennisport.
