John W Case, whose residence was in Lubec ME, when 19 years old enlisted on 8/23/1862 as a Private and mustered into "A" Co, ME 6th Infantry. He was wounded on 5/3/1863 and it appears that on 6/15/1863 he transferred into Veteran Reserve Corps. He transferred on 8/10/1864 into the ME 1st Infantry.
