A High Mass of Requiem in Holy Trinity Church, West Harwich, Monday, followed a funeral service from the Eaton and Blute Funeral Home in Harwich for Philip M. Alvey, 21. He died Thursday evening in Jordan Memorial Hospital, Plymouth, as the result of an auto accident on Rt. 3, Duxbury, Thursday morning. Philip was educated in the Dennis school system, he was graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School Class of 1966 and in 1968 from the Culinary Institute of America, New Haven, to which he received a scholarship from the Pancake Man Restaurant in South Yarmouth. Son of Raymond J. and Emma L. (Herman) Alvey of Depot St., Dennis Port, Philip was born in Boston. He was a chef by profession. A communicant of Holy Trinity Church, West Harwich, he served there as an altar boy for several years and was a former Boy Scout in Dennis Troop 75. While in High School he was a member of the visual aid and the Chefs Clubs. He was also a member of the culinary institute's alumni association. Surviving besides his parents is one sister, Deborah Alvey, who resides at home. Burial was in Swan Lake Cemetery.
