Services were held Sunday at the Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Chapel in South Yarmouth for Melvin W. Chase, 59, of Depot Rd., a resident of Dennis Port for 40 years. A native of Brockton, he was the son of the late Alton and Mattie (Metcalf) Chase. He died suddenly in Missoula, Montana, where he had been employed as a mason for Transit Homes Inc., a South Carolina firm. He is survived by his wife, the former Delia M. Hollis of this village; two sons, David J. of South Yarmouth and Stephen P. of Dennis Port; a daughter, Priscilla A. Brown of Worcester; two brothers, Russell E. of North Woburn and Alton Vernon of Dennis Port; two grandchildren, two nephews and a niece. Interment was in Swan Lake Cemetery, Dennis Port.
