Alexander F. Behlke, 84, of 202 Main St., a retired 30-year employ of the Battle Creek city streets department, died last night in a local hospital where he had been a patient since Saturday. He had been in ill health for the past four years. Mr. Behlke was born Nov. 23, 1880 in Detroit, the son of Harry and Augusta (Platt) Behlke and lived in the Battle Creek area since Sept. 20, 1926 when he came here from East Jordan. He worked on the construction of the Battle Creek Sanitarium and later for Floyd J. Skidmore, contractor. He retired at age 77 about seven years ago after 30 years with the streets department. He had been foreman of sidewalk repair crews. Mr. Behlke was married March 9, 1911 in Honor to Lottie E. Peck. She survives in addition to a son, Frederick L. Behlke of Route 1, Augusta; a daughter, Mrs. Anson H. (Roberta A. )Brown of 344 W. Goguac St.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Behlke was a member of the First Church of God, 370 S. W. Capital Ave.
