HERBERT E. "Pop" THOMPSON, 69, of 244 Winter St., died Tuesday afternoon at the Washington County Hospital. He was born in New London, Md., the son of Ferdinand and Nannie Norwood Thompson. He had lived in Hagerstown for 29 years.

He had been employed at the Fountain Head Country Club for the past six years. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Linton Thompson; three sons, Robert E., William B. and Charles W. Thompson, all of Hagerstown; three sisters, Mrs. Belle Shade, Mrs. Virginia Fogle and Mrs. Mary Kashour, all of Frederick; three brothers, Roy Thompson, Mount Airy; Victor Thompson, Silver Spring; and Merle Thompson, Frederick; and 11 grandchildren.

Services were held at the Rouzer Funeral Home; burial was in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
