Obituary in The Shreveport Times January 1, 1971:

Funeral services will be held today at Oakmont Church of God for John Wesley Ebey, 75, of 702 W. 72nd St., who died Wednesday at Doctors' Hospital following a short illness.

Mr. Ebey was a native of Louisiana and had lived in Shreveport since 1947. He was a retired guard for the Kroehler Co. and a member of the board of the Oakmont Church of God.

He is survived by his widow; four sons, William Ebey, Clinton Ebey, and Carlton Ebey, all of Shreveport, and Arthur Ebey of Keithville; three daughters, Mrs. Frances Jordan of Shreveport, Mrs. Sue Radford of Keithville, and Mrs. Margaret Walton of Nashville Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Kallie Johnson of Coushatta and Mrs. Lonnie Morace of Jonesville; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Billy Franks, pastor of the Oakmont Church, will officiate at the services. He will be assisted by the Rev. Robert Radford, also of Oakmont, and the Rev. Nolan Logan of Life Tabernacle. Burial will be in Forest Park West Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Barney Matthews, Ted Jordan, Paul Grambling, Billie Haynes, George Mauldin, Kerwin Gray, Lorrie Tingle, and H.C. Meshell.
