Born in New Philadelphia, Sept. 12, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Grace Lickman Weldon.
Margaret was a graduate of Soldier's Memorial High School, Class of 1948. She worked for Van Heusen in Pottsville and then for H.L. Miller and Sons, Port Carbon.
She was a member of St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon, a social member of the Goodwill Fire Company in Port Carbon, and she loved doing crossword puzzles and cooking.
Margaret was the last surviving member of her immediate family, being preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, John L. Sterner Sr., on September 23, 2012; a son, John L. Sterner Jr.; 3 sisters, Dorothy Liddick, Anna Jergovic and Mary Ciesla; and 3 brothers, John, William and Joseph Weldon.
Margaret is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Carol A. Haslam, Port Carbon; sons, Edward M. Sterner and his wife, Linda, Pottsville, and William D. Sterner, Port Carbon; daughter, Susan M. Sterner, Pottsville; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon, with the Rev. David W. Karns officiating. At the family's request, there was no visitation or procession from the funeral home to the church. Interment was in Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven. The Robert A.
