Bessie was born December 10, 1924, celebrating her 90th birthday last year.Bessie worked in the Medford school system for many years in food preparation, later going to work for Rogue Valley Medical Center in the cafeteria. She was married to Cecil Bishop in 1976 at which time she retired.Along with her two husbands, Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Etta Brown; brother, Paul Brown; and sister, Carol Smith. Surviving siblings are Ellen Johnson of Central Point; Bill Brown of Bremerton, Wash.; Robert Brown of Vancouver, Wash.; Audrey Brown of Phoenix; Joan Roby of Medford; and Deana Friesen of Medford.Surviving her are her children, Doris (Fred) Robinson and Tim Burchfield, both of Medford; and stepchildren, Rick (Shirley) Bishop of Myrtle Creek, Jerry (Cynthie) Bishop of Prineville, Doug (Cheryl) Bishop of Portland, Donna Miles of Medford, and Barbara Bishop of Salem. Between her and Cecil they had 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.Bessie was buried privately at Memorial Gardens next to her first husband, Bruce Burchfield. A memorial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Apostolic Faith Church, 285 Sunrise Ave, Medford.A special thanks goes to Flo Garner of All About Care and her team of caregivers. Their attention to Bessie and Cecil's needs in the last six years is much appreciated.
