She was the daughter of Henry and Ann Mahan. Born Sept. 17, 1904, in Charleston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland O. Butler, who served as a Marine in World War I; sons, Robert R. and Joseph W. Butler; and granddaughter, Eileen M. Newgreen.
Mrs. Butler was a lifelong resident of the West Side and worked for C&P Telephone Company. She loved to travel and spend warm summer nights on the front porch, playing hymns on her harmonica.
She is survived by her grandsons, Rodger W. Butler of South Charleston and David W. Butler of New Orleans; granddaughter, Kimberly Hornburg of Placentia, Calif.; and great-grandson, Jeffery Hornburg, also of Placentia.
