Mr. Plummer Tenney who has not been feeling well for the past five weeks sustained quite a severe paralytic stroke last Monday morning and has been in a precarious condition ever since. His brain and right side are effected and considering his age, 82 years, it is not probable that he will ever rally sufficient to be about again.

DANIEL P. TENNEY -
Closely following the death of Philip Guthier, narrated above was that of Plumer Tenney, which occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Davis, Saturday evening last. Mr. Tenney's death was not unexpected, as he had been in a critical condition for several days following a stroke of apoplexy. The deceased was one of the early settlers of this section and a man, greatly respected by those who knew him best. He was a man of untiring energy and although long past the years of hard labor, was never satisfied unless doing something and up to the time of taking to his bed he could be found doing some little thing to lighten the burden of others.
Mr. Tenney was born in the state of New Hampshire, on the 8th day of Aug 1817, but soon removed with his parents to the state of New York, where he reached manhood's estate.
In 1837, he was married to Elizabeth Mitchel, and as the result of this union nine children were born to them.
In 1855, He came west with his family to Fon du Lac, Wis., three years later moving to Indiana, but not being satisfied with the climate he returned to Wisconsin and after a short sojourn again moved westward locating at Plain View, Minn. A short time afterwards, in company with others, he moved to Mapleton, where he continued to reside until the time of his death.
His voyage through life was not free from sorrow and in 1866, he was called to mourn the loss of a devoted wife. For about eight years he lived on his farm, his then unmarried daughters, Lucy and Ida, keeping house for him until their marriage.
He afterwards married again but this union proved of short duration. On August 11th, 1879, death again entered his home claiming for its victim his second companion. Of the nine children, three survived him, Mrs. Wm. Tenney and Mrs. H.M. Quinn, of Mapleton, and Mrs. C. Sanders of St. Paul, besides one brother, Mr. Henry Tenney of Twin Brooks, South Dakota.
Following the death of his wife, Father Tenney as he was called went to live with his daughter, Mr. W. H. Davis, where he lived until the fall after her demise, since which time made his home mainly with Mrs. W. H. Tenney.
The funeral occurred at the Baptist church on Monday afternoon, Rev. S.B. Smith having charge of the services in the absence of the regular pastor of the church.
The interment was at the Chase cemetery beside the remains of those of his family, who had preceded him to the grave.
