Charles was a retired gas meter repairman for Dayton Power & Light in Dayton, Ohio; a member and a deacon at the Roadside Baptist Church, a former member of the Belmont Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio, and was attending Springfield Baptist Church; a U.S. Army veteran; a member of the Dayton Masonic Lodge in Dayton, Ohio; and he enjoyed working in the Food Ministry at the Christian Life Fellowship Church.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers: Bill Davis and Paul Davis; his brother-in-law: Jim Vancil; his two sisters-in-law: Opal Davis and Edith Jackson; and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: General and Mary Jackson.
On April 19, 1957, he united in marriage to Helen Jean Jackson.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of almost 61 years: Helen Jean Davis of Barbourville. His daughter by choice and not by birth: Jina Rose Delong of Dayton, Ohio. His granddaughter: Aucia Riley and husband, Eric of Dayton, Ohio and his grandson: Jacob Delong of Dayton, Ohio. His brother: John Harvey Davis and wife, Marjorie of Xenia, Ohio. His two sisters: Zelma Davis Vancil of Dayton, Ohio and Thelma Davis Myrick and husband, Albert of Ponder, Texas; a sister-in-law: Margaret Helen Davis of Heidrick; and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews, and many other relatives and dear friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Charles L. Davis will be 8:00 P.M. Thursday, January 4, 2018 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Josh Smith and Rev. Seymour Wattenbarger officiating.
The Davis family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home after 7:00 P.M. Thursday, and until the funeral hour of 8:00 P.M.
